Since the fifteenth century in Bologna the Tarot’s Trionfi (today the Major Arcana) were considered a manual for cosmology and as well as a summary of moral precepts and theological considerations. The Tarot then became a game of chance and skill used bythe Estensi courts and was later transformed into a tool for divining. Not withstanding these changes in use however the ancient depictions of the Tarot of Bologna have been maintained almost intact.
